Copula

12/12/2016

What connects

in grammar

is a copula –

is

but the act of copulation

requires only subjects

interacting,

themselves

only an amalgamation

of shifting processes.

The copula is

an invention of language,

not even a thing,

a place marker,

where only fluid and amorphous

processes function,

one nonexistent intermediary

foregrounded

and verbed or nouned –

is, being –

when it isn’t an act or a thing:

copula,

exactly the word

denying what it expresses.

This is how, too often,

you each one

seems to be,

seems to be

an isolated thing or action,

when, in fact,

is isn’t.
