Fair Demand

07/07/2016

You know, feel, sense

the fair demand of fellow beings,

but often you ignore it

for your convenience.

Just so in guilt

you twist away

from who you are

to busyness, diversion,

self-righteousness or ennui,

guilt your recognition

of the fair demand

eating at you.

Is your convenience,

your superficial ease,

worth this digging

dis-ease?

Why not instead

directly respond

to what is needed?

Isn’t that the way

of true ease?
