Fool

03/23/2016

You may not be in a position

to overturn the ruling thought,

the constricting thought.

Few are.

But every king needs a fool, a jester,

one who may speak truth to power,

the joker laughable, easily dismissed,

but to one pried open

the joker’s utterly serious,

challenging every premise

and using every stratagem

without fear.

Then ruling thought –

taken aback,

laugh-stunned,

called into question –

is implacable no longer.
