Traumatic Stress Disorder

12/29/2015

Do you know people who are like the objects in Van Gogh and Charles Burchfield paintings,

waves of anxious energy emanating
off of them?

The world is filled with such waves, crashing one into the other.  It’s a world of great stress and people seem to want to propagate it, like it is a deep truth that they must proselytize.

And so, in their presence, you tend to be stressed.

It’s not only a world where people suffer from PTSD, but from TSD, active traumas pervasive.

How not to feed the waves of anxiety?

By seeing through the resulting manifestations of suffering – the anxiety, anger, and lashing out – to their heart: to the hurt and fear that those manifestations also produce in you.

It’s the hurt and fear you share with all, just like you, who suffer. Realizing this, you needn’t respond in kind, but may remain still and open to pain pulsing, both intense and low-throbbing, the not-moving-away suffering’s end.
