Life and death

11/19/2015

It is too facile to see

autumn’s falling leaves

as intimations

of impending death.

After all,

the life of a falling leaf

is fiery light.

In this way,

the life of the bare winter tree

is a pristine-cold

spaciousness,

and the whipping wind

tears in your eyes.

  1. Perfect timing, your fall poem! “The life of a falling leaf is fiery light…”
    Thanks, Mark
