Box-izing

11/12/2015

The problem isn’t with what to do with a marginalized group, with helping ‘them’ or hindering ‘them’.

The problem lies

in how we perceive, bind and bound each one in front of us,

in racializing, genderizing, class-izing, group-izing, box-izing

each one,

in excluding,

problematizing,

hating,

saving,

in making each being –

from the get-go,

and even through

all the motions

of dogged

differentiation

or well-intentioned

reclamation –

other,

not us.

It eschews well known truths dredged from the subconscious, in that:

    The discrimination against another being is ultimately the rejection of self;

    Bravo

    • Thank you for your kind comments, Jordan. Perhaps discrimination against another being is nothing more than the imposition of a false, hard shell (a fixed self) where in fact fluidity manifests.
